Ihiala LGA is a place in Anambra South Senatorial district of Anambra State. Ihiala LGA was created in 1976 during late General Muritala Mohammed – Olusegun Obasanjo regime with the head quarters at Ihiala.

Ihiala LGA is made up of ten autonomous towns namely; Okija, Ihiala , Uli, Amorka, Azia,  Mbosi, Isseke, Orsumoghu, Lilu and Ubuluisiuzor.

The LGA has twenty wards and is divided into four quarters namely; 1. Okija Zone, 2. Ihiala Zone, 3. Uli / Amorka Zone, 4. Eboniese Zone, which comprises (Azia, Mbosi, Isseke, Osurmoghu, Lilu and Ubuluisiuzor)

GEOGRAPHICAL LOCATION:

Ihiala LGA is located 48km North of Owerri and 40km South of Onitsha. It covers an area of 304 sqkm and is bounded by Ogbaru (in Ogbaru L:GA, Anambra State) on the west, Ozubulu (in Ekwusigo LGA, Anambra State), Ukpor and Orsumenyi (in Nnewi South LGA, Anambra state) in the North and in the South By Egbuoma, Ohakpu, Ozara and Oguta in Egbema / Oguta LGA of Imo State.

PHYSICAL FEATURES & CLIMATE:

The Local Government Area is surrounded by hills, valleys and forest areas. It has a tropical climate with the rainy season between April and October and a dry season from November to March.

The population of Ihiala LGA was projected to be over 400,000 as at the year 2016
