Health

There is no organized health system in Ihiala LGA that delivers health care services that the people need. Ihiala LGA lacks qualified doctors, qualified nurses, lacks basic amenities and most of the hospital buildings are not fit for the purpose, very dirty and unhygienic. These hospitals shouldn’t be allow to practice .

The conditions of our  public hospitals especially the primary health centers are terrible, Some buildings in our health centers  and public Hospital has been left to deteriorate, with some part of the premises turning into a bush, most primary health centers in our communities has not been fenced. The authorities in these Hospitals cried out to us that nowadays, people in our communities hardly go to the public health centers for their healthcare anymore, because of the conditions in these health centers. They prefer to go to the private hospitals which is far more expensive, of which the less privileged ones in our communities cannot afford.
When pregnant women deliver their babies in our health centers, instead of them staying back and get a proper healthcare for their new babies, they rather opt to go home with their babies on the same day of delivery, This is because they’re afraid of insecurities, that unknown people can actually come in and kidnap their babies since the health center premises is not fenced or secured.
Most number of our health centers lack healthcare facilities, such as Hospital beds, BP apparatus, Fetoscope, which is used for checking pregnancy, drip stands, drugs, injections, medical facility for storage of drugs and many more. Because of this difficulties, some our health centers now buy drugs from roadside private shops.
Our health centers are not well equipped for night emergencies  since they have no security personnel’s and no reliable source of electricity. In conclusion, the conditions of our public hospitals and health centers are unbearable, they are not an ideal place for treatments and needs an immediate attention.
